Embassy Observes Youm – e – Ishtehsal, 5th August 2022

The Embassy hosted a Seminar at the Chancery to mark 05th August as Youm – e -Ishtehsal. The event was attended by more than 35 participants from different walks of life including key Jordanian notables, academia, media, think tanks and Pakistani community

The event was marked by speeches in Arabic and English by prominent personalities, on the several challenges Muslim Ummah was facing in general and in Kashmir and Palestine in particular. The speakers highlighted the cordial and brotherly relations between the two countries which were based on bonds of religion, culture and history and praised Pakistan as a country of strong and brave Muslims which was playing a leading role in supporting Muslims of Kashmir and Palestine. They also acknowledged that Kashmiri people were suffering immensely and likened their misery to the Palestinian people.

Moreover, the Speakers emphasized that Kashmir issue along with Palestinian issue were the two core issues of the Muslim Ummah and the resolution of both as per the UN Security Council resolutions was indispensable for regional and global peace and stability. They urged the international community to take notice of crimes against humanity being perpetrated in Kashmir and Palestine.

Charge d’ Affaires a.i. in his speech, shed light on the Kashmir cause as well as highlighted the plight of Kashmiris. He also underscored the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brethren in their just fight for their right of self-determination and the struggle against occupation by India, which not only continued to deny Kashmiris the right of self-determination but also continued to perpetrate worst kinds of violence against innocent Kashmiris.

Charge d’ Affairs a.i. also highlighted the flagrant human rights violations committed by Indian occupation forces in IIOJK and the gruesome act of using pellet guns against Kashmiris which had caused life-long disabilities including permanent blindness. Indian illegal actions post 5th August 2019 and continued inhumane lock-down in IIOJK, were a particular focus of the event. In the end, he highlighted the strong bonds of friendship which existed between Jordan and Pakistan and thanked the people of Jordan for their continued support on Kashmir issue.
