Academic Counselor

Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Counselor to join our educational institution. The Academic Counselor will play a crucial role in supporting students throughout their academic journey by providing guidance, advice, and support in various aspects of their educational experience. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of academic programs and requirements, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.


  • Provide academic counseling and guidance to students regarding course selection, program requirements, and career pathways.
  • Assist students in setting academic goals and developing personalized academic plans.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address academic challenges, study skills, time management, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure student success and academic progress.
  • Stay updated on academic policies, procedures, and program changes to accurately advise students.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records related to academic counseling sessions and interventions.
  • Monitor student academic performance and proactively identify students at risk of academic difficulties.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and informational sessions related to academic success strategies.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in academic counseling or student advising role is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse student populations.
  • Strong knowledge of academic programs, curriculum requirements, and university policies.
  • Familiarity with counseling techniques, student development theories, and academic support resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to support student success.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ethical and professional conduct, with a commitment to student confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and student information systems.
