Press Release: Press Briefing on OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (Mar-2022)

On 2nd March 2022 His Excellency, Major General Sajjad Ali Khan (Retd), Ambassador of Pakistan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, held a Press briefing on 48th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held in Pakistan from 22-23 March 2022 for the media persons in Jordan, at Pakistan Embassy in Amman.

He stated that Pakistan was deeply committed to the everlasting Islamic virtues of amity and brotherhood and believed in promoting solidarity and cooperation between members of the Islamic Ummah.

Pakistan’s policy towards the Islamic States was one of abiding ‘friendship and goodwill’ and it had remained committed to these ideals. Only two months after joining the UN (30 September 1947), Pakistan voted against the UNGA Resolution 181 (29 November 1947) on the partition of Palestine, as gross injustice to the Palestinian people.

He further said that as a founding member of the OIC, Pakistan believed that the best expression of strengthening Islamic solidarity was by further strengthening the Organization as the representative voice of over 1.5 billion Muslims across the world. This year Pakistan would once again have a distinct privilege to host the 48th CFM, in Islamabad, on 22-23 March 2022. This Session would coincide with the 75th anniversary celebrations of Pakistan’s independence and Pakistan looked forward to welcoming OIC Foreign Ministers to Pakistan on this ‘special’ occasion, including the Honorable Foreign Minister of Jordan.

Pakistan was confident that the 48th CFM would prove to be a landmark session in our combined efforts to chart a joint Islamic way forward and Pakistan remained committed to support all efforts aimed at promoting Unity, brotherhood and prosperity amongst the Muslim world.
